In the year 2000, BPI Direct Savings Bank, Inc. was launched as the Philippine's first Phone and Internet Bank. BPI Direct aimed to provide clients with the convenience of opening an account and transacting via the Internet, thus, making banking available to them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Since its inception, BPI Direct has been receiving inquiries through emails and letters from Filipinos overseas on how they can avail of banking and financial services even from abroad. In response, BPI Direct in year 2002, decided to focus on a new market --- the Filipinos overseas whom we refer to as the Expat Pinoys. As a virtual bank, BPI Direct can reach the Expat Pinoy, wherever he may be. Geographical distance is no hindrance as anybody can access BPI Direct from anywhere in the world through the Internet. Today, BPI Direct aims to provide the Expat Pinoy access to a range of banking and financial services and make life better for him and his family.

With the Expat Pinoy in mind, BPI Direct created a new look for its website. The website has been redesigned to cater to the taste and needs of the Expat Pinoys without alienating its existing clientele. BPI Direct has repackaged its products and services to fit the needs of this new market. It has partnered with other websites whose objective is to also provide service to Filipinos abroad. The new BPI Direct website now offers more information useful to Expat Pinoys including Remittance, Loans, Investments and other value-added services such as facility to send gifts to family members and friends in the Philippines.
